South Pasadena, Los Angeles County
South Pasadena incorporated in 1888 and has guarded its tree-lined streets ever since, most famously by fighting off a planned freeway through the middle of town for more than half a century. Its bungalows and storefronts appear constantly in films and television. A pharmacy with a working soda fountain from 1915 still serves customers at the corner of Mission Street and Fair Oaks Avenue.
